Default Compensating Sprocket Removal

I'm trying to install forward controls on a FXD. The HD service manual saysthe Clutch Mainshaft Nut is left hand threaded and turn it clockwise to remove. It is wrong.I had to turn it counter clockwise to remove it. then it says to turn the Compensating sprocket Nut Counter-clockwise to remove.I have tried turning it both ways with out any lock. I'm afraid of breaking it. Is it colckwise or counter-clockwise?

Comp is rt hand thread and hub is left hand. Do you have any threads left on your clutch hub nut?

All taken care of. I did not remove the plate first.I loosened theadjuster nut. Once I removed the plate I saw the clutch hub nut. Life is a little better now
