Default SE Compensator

I finally figured out how to re-size these pictures and wanted to post this one more shot that shows a side view of the center hub (or what ever it’s called). It’s interesting how the ramp angle is steeper on the right side than it is on the left. If you combine the steeper angle on forward rotation with the much larger variable rate springs this should be a major improvement over the old compensator. I’ll have my bike back on the road Monday so I won’t know the overall impact until them.

GAstreetglide: You have a good eye for details. Yes I noticed the lead on the load ramp of the cam. It's like it's two staged as well as the profile on the inside of the spokes matching up to it. The stock unit doesn't have this feature and is notorious for bouncing back and forth between accel and decel ramps because they are equal profiles. Like I said before, someone really thought this one through.

Thanks for the complement, but I still can’t get this picture to load. If you don’t mind posting this picture, I’d appreciate it very much. Maybe HD finally let an engineer, designer, or just a good mechanic design this one instead of the bean counters.

I'm suspecting it may have been used on the Rockers from day one. Don't know about the rest of them.

The 103 build is complete and I was only able to ride about 30 miles this afternoon. The new compensator makes the whole drive line much more quiet. Much less noise when starting, shifting, and cruising. Will provide more info after I put more miles on it tomorrow.

I have ordered my SE compensator and while waiting for it I am trying to prepare myself as much as possible. I do have the service manual and not afraid to tear into it but I do have a question. Does the inner primary have to come off for this install?

Not sure on your's but my fxstc theoretically would have to in order to get the stupid rotor off. There was about 1/16" interferance near the front of the primary where the gasket sits.I clearanced my primary to allow it to come off for future work if needed. Plan on taking it off, and if it clears it will be a bonus.

Well if that's the case I should just go ahead and do the chrome inner primary! Right!
