Default Outer primary aluminum or chrome?

May be a stupid question but I bought my bike used and replaced the inner primary with a chrome one, looks the same as the outer-is the outer chrome? How can one tel the difference? I also replaced the lower forks with chrome forks only to discover that the upper fork sliders were stainless steel-could notice the difference once put on-dealer didn't make me aware of this until after the fact. Thanks in advance.

The primary covers are either polished, chromed, or wrinkle black. If it looks chrome and shiny and not dull like a regular ol' polished one then it is chromed.
