Pulley Nut Tool

Pulley Nut Tool
I am anticipating replacing the belt drive on my 1988 FLHS and being on a fixed income I have to do it myself. I am looking for the transmission main shaft pulley 1 7/8" nut remover/installer. I think the Harley number is 96550-37A. I can find it by Jims but last year I saw one advertised in a magazine for $50. My riding pal bought one and it works just fine. Any one out there know where I can save a few bucks on this tool? Fossil

Make sure you go to the latest trany pulley system HD P/N 40210-85D This system started in 1994 (different spacer/seal/lock plate ) This sprocket is thicker thus making the belt pulley more stable on the trany shaft Maybe this system was already updated ! If you don't know just describe what you see when you get to this project Maybe your riding pal will rent you his tool for $20 !!!

The cheapest I've seen is to buy two deep 1/2 drive sockets, but the end off one and have the two welded together. Otherwise, Ebay, Jims, or George's Garage are your options for buying the correct tool. The correct tool comes with a spacer that screws onto the mainshaft and supports the socket so you can get torque on it without the socket slipping off.
