When i am in to 3rd or 4th gear and exelerate there is a rattling type of noise coming from the primary or lower engine, it will only do it when bike is at full running temp and stops when I keep the throttle at steady rpms. Thanks

 

Have you checked the primary tension? May need an adjustment

 

Sounds like we both have the same problem. I just purchased a 2006 FLHTCU (Ultra Glide Classic) with Stage II upgrade at the time of purchase. If I cruise at about 105km/hr (60mph) and when I accelerate, the engine makes a loud "tinking" noise like bits of metal being thrashed. The sound stops when I hold any speed steady. This only occurs when the engine is warm. I brought it to the dealer in Montreal, but they couldn't (or wouldn't) replicate the problem even though I explained very carefully. (Could've been a language barrier...) They had a look inside the engine--pulled off the primary cover I think, and they said everything was fine... Hopefully someone can help explain this or else I'm gonna have to kidnap a Montreal HD mechanic and take him for a ride so they finally get what the problem is... :-)
