Default Revtech 6 speed tranny

Looking for any info anybody has on Revtech's 6 speed tranny that they say will fit into a stock 5 speed case on a twin cam touring bike -- Custom Chrome #658442 -- is it simple direct replacement or do you have to modify the case in any way/ -- are they noisy like the trannies on the "07's are reported to be?

I had a rev tech six speed installed to my 2001 Road King. It is worth paying extra to change the 1st gear for a lower ratio than the one provided. it is too high for a tourer. You can also pay extra for a taller 6th gear. I don't think its necessary. It is not worth changing up to 6th at much below 70mph and it cruises nicely at 80 to 85 in sixth. The box whines in 4th and 6th. On the positive side it saves remembering what gear your in!. Mike

Go with a BAKER seems to be a better tranny from others experiences.

Mike how bad is that whine in the box? Think with a synthetic gear oil it would go away? I just dont have the money for the baker with the install shop time right now or think I will ever get it back out on re-sale down the road.

i have heard from a couple people that the tranny case might need to be ground down a little on the in side to make clearance for thenew gear setbut, you wont know untill you get it there. it is not a big deal just a pain in the ***

Just remember... with RevTech, you get what you pay for.

I hear they're assembled by little Korean kids in sweatshops in Mexico City

You're right, I've installed a Baker dd6 on my ultra and it's lovely.
No noise , right shift precision, low effort .
Costs much more but it pays.
