5 speed won't shift into 5th
Does anybody know of any particular quirks with the 91 FXSTC 5 spd tranny that prevents getting into 5th? I'll be getting into it shortly so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Hoping to pull the top off to check for a shifting fork that may be bent, or out of alinement. Maybe the inner washer of the shift drum is worn placing the drum in the wrong lateral position. The 91's used washers to control end positioning of the shifting drums.
The fact the tranny sounds like "marbles inside" may mean my garbage can will be a bit on the heavy side this week.

opened it up today and it looks ok. The largee 2"+ nut holding the clutch housing on was a 1/4 turn loose. tightened that and rreset the allen locking screw around its perimeter.
Problem now is I cannot find any info on how to get the last GD bolt off holding it on the frame. Its under the exhaust sideend of tranny between frame tube and the large shock. Any help would be really appreciated. I took the shocks loose on their front 5/8" bolys- big mistake. Rear end softail went with gravity.. live an learn.
Any suggestions?
