Default Clutch cable replacement

So I want to replace the clutch cable on my 2000 fatboy. In the service manual it says to remove the clutch release mechanism as described under "transmission side cover" in ch 6. When you go to chapter 6 there is no mention of transmission side cover, it talks about "transmission side door" is that the same thing? Under transmission side door it says I need to
remove the pipes
drain the transmission
and use a puller to pull the side door. Where do I get a side door puller? Almost sounds like a left handed smoke shifter.
Am I getting into something bigger than I think or is this easier than it sounds? I am a fairly handy guy, just never worked on my bike before and am a little nervous to start.
Can someone please provide a little guidance.
Thanks
Joe

The cover that must be removed is the chromed cover on the right side of the transmission. It is the cover that the clutch cable goes into.

The side door (also called trap door) is the side cover of the transmission that supports the shafts, no need to mess with that.

A clutch cable change is withing reach of most of us shadetree mechanics. Just follow the old cable down the right side of the bike to where it enters the housing. That's the cover to remove. There's three loose ball bearings in there and an o-ring on the end of the cable to prevent tranny oil from leaking. You can do it, no problem. Like most jobs on a harley there will be more time spent fighting the pipes than doing the work.
