Default Hard getting to neutral

For the past little while I've found getting into neutral a bit sticky. I adjusted the clutch and cable as per the manual. When I tried to do the cable adjustment after the clutch adjustment I had too much cable slack. So I went back to the clutch and found I could turn the push rod in some more until I encountered resistance. I could then get the proper cable adjustment at the clutch lever (1/8 - 1/16 inch).

Any idea what might be causing the sticky neutral. The bike is a 2001 FXST with 45000 miles (72000 km) on it. The only mod I've done is to have a cam gear drive installed by a reputable shop (Jarz Performance)

Start with the easy stuff. With the bike vertical (not on the sidestand), pull the derby cover and check the fluid level. Too much fluid in there will make it difficult to find neutral. The proper level is when it just overlaps the bottom of the clutch diagraphm (shiny disk). Shine a light in there if you have to. The usual cause of overfilling is having it done at the dealer, or DIYers who add fluid via the inspection cover instead of the derby. It takes a long time to drain down to the main cavity from the inspection plate opening, so people end up with more in there than they realize.

Sorry I gave you the wrong link. But if you go to the oil thread you will find some of the same stories with a oil change fix.
