I have a ultima 6 speed tranny for 1991-99 softail and a 1989 1340 evo engine what year of primary do I run with this combo? Thanks

 

Not exactley sure what your asking as I'm assuming you already have a primary assembly on the motor. Basicly for 89 its the short primary. My buddy thats into mix and matching parts for builds told me that if I want to change my inner and outer primary I could use any year as long as they match models.
Your 91-99 tranny gear set will b splined shaft as you probably already know.
