Default 02 Softail Standard oil saturation, tranny/lower end

Went and looked at an 02 Standard, overall condition of the bike was very good considering her age....she'll need tires this spring.

The one thing that has me a little concerned is there seemed to be a little oil saturation the top of the tranny/lower end unit....is this common? Never noticed it on my brothers 2K Heritage but then his is black not the silver motor.

Explain "oil saturation"; maybe even post a picture?? '02 was a great year for the TC88 motor. Near bullet proof bottom end with hot forged crank and Timken crank bearing; great platform to build on.

Clean it up and see if it comes back. Lot of people when they change the filter let a little run down. If it's not dripping, it's positively OK.

My '02 had a little seepage there. I'd clean it off every six month or so. When the bike needed a starter, I replace the trans-top gasket, and it's been fine ever since...

Thanks guys.....I did post this in the Softail section as well......found out that theres no oil there and it's perhaps a water & dirt build up that cause the look of oil.
Thanks Again.
