Evo 5 speed
'87 Sloptail, stock 5 speed tranny. Noticed a clicking sound when I was rolling the bike around in the shop. Seemed to be coming from the primary/tranny area. I'm pulling the primary down to replace the engine sprocket seal. Got the inner primary off and the tick is coming from the tranny, not the inner primary bearing as I'd hoped. Any ideas?

RE: Evo 5 speed
I heard it first when pushing the clutch in and rolling to a stop sign. Bike is on lift, primary apart to replace engine sprocket seal. Can hear the noise by turning the rear wheel with tranny in neutral, and with it in any gear. No noise when turning just the shaft with tranny in neutral; only makes the noise when the sprocket shaft/rear wheel turns. Pulley is tight on the shaft

RE: Evo 5 speed
Finally got to delve a little further into it today. It appeared the sprocket was tight as it didn't move at all when "played" with, and the socket head used to lock the nut in place was where it was s'posed to be. But when I stuck an Allen wrench on the screw to remove it, I found it was loose, and that part of the head was worn away. The sprocket nut was loose! As soon as I tightened it a bit with an old offset hammer wrench, the clicking noise went away. I pulled the sprocket and the splines are OK, so now I gotta scrounge some pieces to make an extended socket so I can torque it properly.
As the $$ are tight right now, this is great news!
