Default 03 Sportster Tranny Squealing

Hi,

I have an 03 1200 Sportster with just under 10K on it and took it for about a 150 mile ride the other day and about 130 miles into it I started hearing a squealing or whining sound in 4th gear. As the miles went on it got louder and it began doing it in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, getting louder as my speed increased but completely went away when I shifted into 5th.? It would sound to me as if a bearing is going somewhere in the tranny but I dont know where to start being that It goes away in 5th. I would rule out anything in the primary or a final output bearing.... Anyone heard of this or any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

My engine is doing this also on a 02 883. Did you get any information as to what may have been wrong with your bike?

Seeing how the post is 5 years old and the original poster hasn't been on in over 3 years, I doubt you'll get a answer from him.
