08' bagger, Stage 1, 76,000 miles of trouble free use and then @#%^*, some kinda brand new noise when starting. Souded like it engaged- disengaged- engaged. Loud clunk.
Question, what is the most common starter problem to arise?

 

Sounds like your starter clutch is going south. These are easy to change out without having to replace the starter. Make sure your battery is fully charged,therefore,eliminating any weak battery/electrical issues.

 

I would agree sounds to be a starter clutch issue.

 

yeah, the sprague clutch makes a screeching sound when it goes south. The kit is around $170 up here.
