67 Ironhead Transmission
Hello I am new to the site and harleys. I just got a 67 Ironhead project bike. Rigid frame and custom fenders. The bike supposedly was stuck in 4th gear and the guy that had it before me (not the guy that got it stuck in 4th) pulled the tranny out of it to try to repair it. So I got this bike in parts and supposedly all the parts are there, but when i look at the service and parts manual (came with the bike) Im not seeing all the parts listed. What is even more strange, I look at the part numbers on my parts and the parts manual has different numbers. I took a couple of pics to illustrate:
Here is the engine identification... looks like a 67 to me?
Here is the pawl shift carrier support part number 34512-52 and the manual says I should have 34514-52B???
Aside from the identification issues.. I was messing around with the tranny in the vise and tried tightening the bolt for the pawl shift support and didnt realize there is supposed to be a spacer between it and the trap door. So I tightened it too far and the bolt bottomed out and knocked out the spring stop see here:
See the bolt on top that screws into the support. that little chunk to the right is the piece that broke off. Would I be ok to jbweld, braze or weld it back on or should I find a replacement?
