Help removing clutch pack
I need to remove my clutch assembly pack. Per my manual it says I need the Spring Compressing Tool which is part no. HD-38515A.
Anyways does anyone know an alternative tool or way to get the clutch out without the tool? Or had any experience removing the clutch? This is on a 2008 sportster 1200 C
I'm replacing the clutch pack with a Barnett scorpion
Thanks for any direction on this matter.

The tool is used to compress the diaphragm spring in order to remove the snap ring that holds the pressure plate.
Once the snap ring is removed, you can remove the pressure plate, the clutch plates and the clutch disks.
This same tool is used on big twins that use the snap ring to hold the pressure plate (90-97).
Here are a couple of tools that can be used.

Note that this tool is only for disassembly of the clutch, not removal of the clutch from the bike.
In order to remove the entire clutch shell/hub assembly you will need to remove the clutch hub nut and also the front primary chain sprocket, and remove both at the same time as described in the service manual.
If you are only changing plates and disks, you do not need to remove the clutch assembly from the bike.
