Default 3 Phase 50 Amp Stator replacement

re: those with leaking stators on the twin cam. Apparantly, HD went to a new design stator for the 2011 bikes. The problem was the grommet that passed through the engine cases began leaking oil in a progressive fashion. The only real fix was to replace the entire stator, a job worth several hundred dollars. The new designed stator (p/n 29987-06C) has a reworked gromment with (3) O-rings; two for oil seal and one to prevent water ingress. However, the 06C was superceded by the previous 29987-06B design. The why is the question; supply or design problems?
