Default HD drive belts

Does the Softail model utilize the same size drive belt as a touring model. HD used to make a stronger drive belt for sidecar use. I would like to attach a Liberty sdecar to my Softail and am searching for a stronger belt than the OEM one, if it exists.

It is true they used to make a stronger belt in the past, however the current touring bikes use a much narrower belt than the one you refer to, on both solos and trikes. So recent belts are much stronger than those old sidecar belts.

If your belt is narrower than the original 1 1/2" belts, you probably don't need to worry. However you could ask Liberty what they recommend.
