Default Should a main shaft bearing be noisey?

On a 07 FLHTCU, the bearing for the main shaft in the primary. It seems to turn ok, but it is noisey. It just seems odd to me when I turn a bearing I can hear it. Last time I had it off, I don't remember checking cause that wasn't the problem I was chasing.

Bike has whirring noise, doesn't matter, clutch in or or. I blew out the front brakes, and don't see any think unusual.

I couldn't compress the tensioner, even pushing on it with hammer handle, when on the bike. Maybe 1/6-1/18. Not like how you can compress it on the bench.

I first replaced the front wheel bearing think that may be it. Readjusted belt too.

So should you hear the bearing when you turn it by hand?

Thanks.

Absolutely not. The auto tensioner has been known to adjust too tight and loading up the bearing you are hearing. Pretty common issue from what I read on the forums. You should definitely replace the bearing and consider replacing the tensioner with the Hayden unit or the new manual H-D adjustor.

I got a M6 on order, and I am going to replace the bearing. The HD manual one I say was the SE version, and the pad sure looked small. Probably fine for racing, but not street use, where the miles rack up fast.
