Default not the same old clunk

Ok, yesterday while riding my 08 ultra I noticed a clunk similar to the shifting clunk. The clunking was noticeable crawling at slow speeds in 1-2 gear thru a parking lot. What worried me is that it clunker while my clutch was pulled in. The clutch seems to be doing it's job, I stopped the bike with the clutch, the clunking stopped, when I got up around 10/15 mph I pulled in the clutch and with the clutch engaged while the bike slowed the clunking started again. Very similar to trying to ride in the wrong gear at too slow a speed, if that makes sense. Any ideas?

my first suggestion is adjust the clutch. Whilst in there feel for chain tightness use a screw driver to feel deflection. next open up primary check compensator and clutch.

If you have over 20K miles and the original comp, you probably need a new comp.

Doing a compensator now on my 2010. I would check that first. The springs get weak and allow it to make noise.

How many miles on the bike? Compensator is the most common suspect, followed by the auto tensioner...yours came with the extra crappy style. It could be as simple as the Compensator bolt has loosened up. Doesn't sound like the inner primary bearing as your description is the opposite of what that usually does when its bad. Feeling any extra vibes while riding? Main drive gear bearing is also a possibility....hopefully not that though. Only way to find out is take the primary cover off and take a look...let us know what you find

On the early comps, besides the springs, the bigger issue is the splines that the cam runs on wear. Clearance gets excessive and they knock.
