Default In Gear but nothing happends

While I was riding yesterday my 1997 fat boy just started to slow down until it would not go anywhere in any gear. It made no noise or anything it just stopped. When I took the cover off to look inside it had some smoke inside and it smelt like something burned up. What do you thing happened? Thanks!!

You talking derby cover obviously......
Sounds like fried clutch or adjust nut backed off.
Have you tried adjusting your clutch?

Look up threads on adjusting the clutch for your bike. Some have pictures. See what you can learn.
Good luck...
