On a 02 dyna super glide do u have to remove the inner primary to change the stator? In the pics looks like I can leave it on.

 

Nope...
Clutch retaining nut needs to come off. (Reverse lefthand thread)
Primary chain adjuster removed.
Compensating sprocket removed. (righthand thread)

Stator is behind compensating sprocket.

 

Thanks. I was worried when I read the book. Really don't want to mess with the clutch disc
