Default trans fluid

the dealer shorted me a quart of trans fluid for my 98 ultra its an evo .the dealer is 40 miles away so I went to a local bike shop and got a quart of 80/90 wt and says on the back for all H.D. except sportsters my question is is the dealers trans fluid 80/90 wt or does it matter

Harley doesn't say exactly what viscosity their products are. I think it's because they want you to use only their products. There's lots of discussion about transmission oils in here. Some favor 80W/90, some prefer 75W/140. In my experience, either will work fine. Just use a good quality gear oil. Me, I use 75W/140 due to the high mileage on my tranny (179,000 at last count). It runs a bit quieter than with the 80W/90, and seeps a bit slower from the one leaking gasket. In a pinch I'd use either weight.
