Default compensator

Hi ,
I have a decent build, shown in my sig, I found my clutch was slipping so I added a Barnett HD spring, now that that is all good, I was hearing this clang noise coming from the compensator area. I had it all apart today, found red stator plastic stuff from last year when I (big mistake) let HD change mine out cleaned it out, torqued to max spec ( 165 lbft). if the clanging continues, can there be something wrong with the compensator? The bike has 52k miles and I don't baby her one bit. Would the screaming eagle compensator be a good move, do I even need a new one?

While I had it apart I noticed a shiny drag mark where the compensator travels.
PS to any moderators I tried this in the tranny, clutch, driveline section and got very little feedback at all.

My opinion comp's due for replacement. Surprised it went this far with your 107 (Cool Bike!). I put the SE version on my Ultra at 17K. It was clanging....and banging bad on engine start up too.
Good luck.

It actually started last year as soon as I slapped the power vision on there, it was a 103 at the time. I used to run a PC-V but the I noticed right off first ride around the corner PV is so much more responsive I guess the compensator couldn't keep up and the clang noise started right then. I was in denial!

It seems like you got good mileage out of the compensator. There have been several posts ion the IPB. On my 2010, it was the race on the tranny bearing that went. $17.00 part, but i replaced the compensator, clutch and should have added they hayden tensioner.

If you can wait a little longer Darkhorse is coming out with the first aftermarket comp for 07+ Its much simpler and wont suffer from lack of lubrication like the SE comp.

I re-tightened it this past week to spec after cleaning it, it's not acting up anymore, so Yes! I can wait. I'll check out DH periodically.

I'm worried now the ipb may have been getting the shock from this. Should I be or is the IPB not really involved. time will tell but if Im in there I may want to do it right away.

The comp beats the crap out of IPB's and starter clutches. Unfortunately there is no aftermarket 1 piece IBP for the 08 primary. If you get a can of rocks noise tha is affected by clutch engagement then start sourcing parts. Some have also experienced a primary chain being over tightened by the auto adjuster. Mine is fine after 120k though. The Baker unit is prolly the best alternative. DH is supposed to release the new comp in early July. Im on the waiting list for one as well. My SE come has neer 70k on it and is worn out.
