Default Clutch Removal

Very frustrated...I can't get the clutch assembly off the main shaft. I have the main shaft nut off, compensator is off, chain adjuster is loose. I've read the manual forward and back, I've seen just about every youtube video and the damn thing is stuck on there. It's loose, I can wiggle it but it only moves forward and back about a 1/16" or less. Is there something else holding it on?? Some other stupid snap ring I'm not aware of?? It should just slide off but I'm about ready to get a hammer! 95' softail classic

You are on the right track, you have everything removed that need be.

Sometimes the clutch hub gets stuck on the splines, so you will have to try to gently persuade the clutch to come off.

A couple of small pieces of lumber to pry between the inner primary cover and the ring gear, while tapping the end of the mainshaft with a plastic or nylon mallet might be all you need.

I finally got it with some prying and light tapping, thanks Dan! Oh boy I'm in deep...

While you have that inner primary off, replace the bolt in the shifter lever, and make sure the new bolt it is tight...use a high strength steel bolt (grade 8).

10-4, going to replace all seals, inner primary bearing, as well as new inner-to-engine and inner-to-tranny bolts and lock tabs, and finally all primary cover bolts. Check out new thread "Curious Belt Movement".
