Default clutch cable

Hi, i recently had some motor work, then had to upgrade the clutch spring then the comp sprocket, and then the clutch cable seemed to have stretched and almost rolled right off the adjustment screw for the right cable play so I installed a new one. It was after all 4 years old and 40k miles on it But it seems this new cable is going to the same spot. Great now i have a spare cable right.

So when I adjust the clutch pak and turn it back, is it the more free play I give it the shorter my cable will have to be, or vice versa. Right now i left it at contact and 1/2 turn out. If i give it a full turn will i have to shorten my cable is what I'm hoping for.
