Trans / Clutch Questions...
(also posted a similar thread in Dyna page)
In order to access the Trans Side Door bolt holes on my '05 DX, do I need to remove the clutch basket?
I have stripped the threads on the bolt holes on the bottom of the case and need to Helicoil them. Exhaust bracket came loose and vibrated those threads to death... So, in order to get there, I know the side door needs to come off, if I'm reading my manual correctly the clutch needs to come off in order to remove the mainshaft from the case....?
If so, or either way, I'll be doing a heavy duty clutch spring. Do you reccomend the SE version? What else needs attention while I'm in the trans case. I assume all new gaskets, whatever circlips are removed will be replaced... What else?
Thanks

In order to remove the transmission side door, you will need to remove:
clutch, compensator and primary chain
starter jackshaft and starter mount bolts
inner primary cover
inner primary bearing inner race
shift drum
shift forks
Once you get those parts removed, you can unbolt the side door and remove it (the gearset will stay attached to the side door).
