I have a 2010 Ultra with 15k miles. When I decelerate and hit the throttle it sounds like there is play in the primary chain. It has a knocking sound like chain slap. Is this a problem?

 

Not necessarily a problem, but probably the tensioner. You can either do the "hit it hard" procedure to get it to ratchet to where it should, or replace it with a better setup like the Hayden BT07 or Baker's unit. I run the Hayden. Speaking of the primary, you still have the stock compensator or have you replaced with the SE?

 

Well everything in the primary got replaced except the chain and rotor. Also replaced the tranny trap door seal and voltage regulator(connector fused to stator). Total bill is closing in on 3K.

After all the above, I told the dealer I would do the brakes and tire myself.

 

Dollar to a dime it is the comp. Had a new one put in and a month later it just came out of the shop with another new one. Month old already trashed. Comp is total crap.... and no it's not low RPM driving habits..
