ironhead clutch adjuster

Default ironhead clutch adjuster
I have a 73 sporty and the hole in the primary where the clutch cable adjuster screws in looks to be about a 5/16 thread,and the adjuster that screws into the primary looks to be about a 1/4 inch. does anyone know what this is all about? Thanks!
