Default Gearshift thrust washer

My 1990 sporty is leaking oil from the primary cover. Closer inspection reveals it is leaking from the gear shaft bushing. I bought the bike from the US without seeing it and consequently it has issues which i am discovering on a daily basis. It appears two parts are missing, the external oil seal and an inner thrust washer. The latter being the item I am going to struggle with. Surely these were measured at manufacture to compensate for free play? If not does anyone know where I can get one or what size it is as I will make one. Much thanks.
