How tight should the belt be?

Default How tight should the belt be?

I just changed the tire and the belt feel very tight.
So how much play should it have?

10 lbs with the tester, or twist it and if you can twist it 45* (1/2") between your fingers it's good

No pictures.
I would say it is a little tighter than that. I may swing by the stealership to get their option and how much to adjust it. Next summer I need to change the belt. I have 15.8K miles and it does not look good. I may try to do pictures of that if I can. My phone with flash got permanently borrowed.

Forget the twisting part of that, unless you have a set of calibrated fingers! Your owners manual and service manual both give instructions. They vary over the years slightly so there is not a single rule. Your belt will last ages, so don't get too anxious about it's appearance, unless it has sustained damage.
