Assuming you mean the clutch spring.
If the clutch pack stack up is less than .885 - .900 you will have a tough time setting the spring. The spring should be set so that it is concave .010". If the adjustment on the spring retainer isn't enough you can add a steel plate.
Be sure the spring retainer isn't worn with grooves around its edge. If so replace it with a Barnett retainer.
You can counter bore the deepest adjustments on the retainer to get the proper spring adjustment, but the replacement retainer and the proper stack up is the best way. Done properly, the clutch pull will be a lot easier.
