Forward Control to Mid Control Conversion
Hey!
I posted in the dyna forum my opinion and why I'm changing to mid controls, so I won't be swayed into moving the forwards back. I'm just brainstorming and getting my parts list together and want to get the right parts as inexpensively as possible. So, if you can help, if you have an idea where to get a part, or you have done this work already I would love to hear that too.
I had the primary apart for the 30T, so I'm not afraid to go back in.
I figure for the primary housing I will need the following:
786A BOLT w/ seal (5) (can't hurt to replace a bolt that has a seal)
9231 BEARING (is there an upgrade for the inner primary bearing?)
11105 O-RING, magnetic drain plug
12052A OIL SEAL
17369-00A GASKET SERVICE KIT
34934-06 GASKET, housing cover
34982-02 BUSHING (just in case)
60547-06 GASKET, primary cover
60678-85 RETAINING RING
60790-06B INNER COVER ASSEMBLY, (textured black)(GY-MID)
60790-06A is the new (?) number for the inner cover
60758-06 OUTER COVER ASSEMBLY, w/ 34982-02 (black wrinkle)
60758-06A is the new (?) number for the outer cover
63869-06 GASKET
When I was doing research online for the primary outer and inner covers, I discovered that the number for those parts have changed as far as HD is concerned.
For the gear shifter I will need:
7076 SPACER (GY-MID)
7736 ACORN NUT (GY-MID)
33726-06 SHIFTER ROD (GY-MID)
33849-97 LEVER. shifter rod (GY-MID)
34621-06 SHIFT LEVER (GY-MID)
I'm thinking that all of the other parts in this assembly appear to be common to both configurations, so by theory they should be on the floor when I take the forward controls off.
For the rear brake control:
515 COTTER PIN, (just in case)
7744 JAM NUT, (just in case)
42481-03A SUPPORT, brake lever & footrest
425502-90A BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY (GY-MID)
11005 RETAINING RING
51938-04 COTTER CIRCLE
42460-80B CLEVIS PIN
7003 LOCKWASHER, spring
33706-94 BEARING (2)
So, this is step one, getting the parts right. Now, I will do the work to see how much the parts cost on the inter webs. I have a space to work in for the winter. So I will have plenty of time to figure it out. Please advise .

Mason's Island is off of Mystic connected by a causeway on the stonington side.
I've been scrambling for take-offs for a while, finally just ordered the parts from Latus Harley, paid about $750 for everything on the list. Can't wait to put it all together!
BTW, they are not right for my bike, but I love those pipes!
