Default Baker 189-56 question

I am installing one in my new primary on my 06 Wideglide. I have read many threads about the install and almost every one asks whether or not to install both seals, one seal or no seals. I just got my bearing in yesterday and in the package there is one bearing and one black seal. I checked online and this is normal. My question is...why are people asking about installing both seals when the bearing only comes with 1. The directions that come with it only show installing 1 seal.

What your reading is not about the rubber seal that comes with the kit. The bearing is what is known as a "sealed" bearing. Meaning that the bearing is lubricated and then sealed so the lubrication does not come out. Some folks don't trust the lubrication inside so they remove the seals from the bearing so that the primary fluid can lubricate the bearing.
