is it common for the 6th gear in an 07 flh to fail ??,and what would be a reasonable price to repair,(not blown yet,makin noise)

 

If you mean the main case bearing that the 6th gear rides in, then the answer is yes it's common. The question you need to ask yourself is how many times do you want to replace it.

 

the tranny made it to 71.000 mi,??,also the guy said the bearing was plastic ??
