Default Best Primary Belt For Shovelhead ?

I have a 1974 Shovelhead in a Santee frame, I want to convert it to a primary belt instead of the chain. Anyway was thinking of using BDL brand.
1. They have a enclosed belt drive complete with clutches for around 700.00 bucks.
2. They have an open primary for around 1400.00 then I also have to buy a newer starter for it.
And yes I want to keep the starter.

My question is are both of these reliable ? Is one more reliable then the other ? Was hoping to hear from people who have used either. I do not put a lot of miles on the bike each year. Thanks, Jim

I put the Bolt-in belt drive in my shovel several years ago and its doing just fine. I love the BDL clutch that comes with it.

You assume correctly. But you should also use a vented primary cover.
