Cool **My DIY 6 speed tranny rebuild.**

With 128,000 miles on my tranny its time for a full rebuild. She will get a new input shaft (35467-06A) and all new seals gaskets, bushings, splined washers, 1/2 clips, snap rings. Going to be a lot of pics and very little advice. Ive built many standard transmissions but this is my first Harley transmission. This is the first round of pics. I will be making my main shaft puller/press plate today. I figure this will take me about 2 weeks to complete.

First bit of advice. Pull the stupid dip stick before pulling the cassette out. Snapped mine right off.

Second kernel of wisdom. Best to just save up your money for a Baker DD7. Being young n poor this option doesnt work for me.

Made my puller plate and pulled my main gear drive. The bearing was sloppy but had not disintegrated yet. This plus a sloppy counter shaft bearing makes this job worth doing. Tomorrow Ill separate the gears and shift drum.

No, no there's no fun in that! That's like slapping in a 120" instead of spending a similar amount building a strong 107" - not allowed!

Ok, I agree, that is a better choice, but we are now getting up there ($$$) where no matter what you do on a 107" build you could not reach that level and you would miss out on all the fun!

My goal is when this is all done I wont have to open, split, touch, inspect, and fondle a single thing for at least 100k.!
