Jackshaft question
I'm building a custom with a softail primary using a 1994+ starter and am trying to figure out the jackshaft connection.
This is what I've read on here which sounds fine,
"The end of the coupling (the narrow hollow part with splines on the ID) with the counterbore goes toward the jackshaft.
Then the Jackshaft, splined end in first.
Then the large diameter coupling with the snap ring in the center of the ID.
Spring.
Pinion gear. Bolt o ring and tablock."
Everything sounds like what I have, (Spyke Jackshaft) but one part,
"Then the large diameter coupling with the snap ring in the center of the ID." seems to be different. That large diameter coupling has the retaining ring groove off to one end, not in the center. I'm guessing the long end of that coupling would go out to the pinion gear with the spring inside it?
Anyone agree?
