2008 Roadking
68,000 miles on my roadking. Started to feel a little loose in rear. Happened to be near a HD dealership. Stopped by and they said I need a new transmission. He based this on: pulling on drive belt and heard clunk noise. Tire was off the ground. Said I would also need rear bearings. Repair starts at $3000.00.
He also said that my bike wins the record by having 68,000 miles on original transmission. He says very normal for 6 speed trannys to not last this long.
The part about 68,000 miles being a record holder sounds like B.S. to me.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Some have less miles before they fail some have more. I don't like the idea that he is telling you your rear end feeling loose is the result of a bad trans though. Did he check the swing arm bushings? Did he put the bike in neutral and spin the wheel? Is the wheel bent? Is the axle bent? That is an amazing mechanic if he can diagnose all of that by pulling on the belt.
