Default 06 ultra leaking tranny oil after oil change

I just bought an 06 ultra with 17k miles on it 2 weeks ago. I decided to change all the fluids just so I know what I have. It had no leaks before I changed the fluids. I put bel ray 20w 50 engine oil in it, bel ray gear saver (red oil) and bel ray big twin tranny oil (red oil) in it. I noticed after driving it about 50 miles when I parked it, I had a red drop on the ground. It appears to be leaking on the right side (sitting on bike). It looks like it is wet under the starter and running down. I haven't bought a service manual yet but the dealer told me it takes 24-26 oz of oil in tranny oil. When I checked my tranny dipstick it reads it is over full. If I over filled it, would it cause it to leak like this? If so, should I drain some out or will it stop on its own? Thanks in advance.:icon_confus ed::i con_confused:

Overfilling it can cause it to come out of the vent, it does not leave enough air space and pressurizes. Should be 20-24oz.

i had a similar problem on the 11 flhxxx i bought this past august..changed all fluids @ 2500mi....starting leaking at right rear of bike.....turns out about 1/2 of the oil pan bolts were only hand tight....snugged all bolts....i have put about a 1k on it since then no leaks yet....also had a 09 flhx with a leak, that turned out coming from bracket that exhaust system attaches to transmission cover...theres 2 bolts there....same thing tightened and stopped that leak...i don't know if your exhaust system attaches the same as the 09 and up do though....good luck....

Yes I have a friend that has an 04. He told me about the pan bolts and exhaust bracket bolts. I checked all that. I think I got it fixed this time. Thanks!

Doesn't take a lot of overfill to cause them to vent it out amd it will show right where you described. Yea I've done it on my 05 haha
