Default clutch or trans

I adjusted the clutch per service manual on my 96 cubic inch 07 Road Glide with a six speed trans, clutch still slips in 3rd gear replaced clutch plates, steals & diaphragm spring and clutch clutch still slips in 3rd gear, I think the problem is in the trans, no problems in any other gear,Any pointers, suggestions, solutions would be appreciated I'm @ my wits end thnx

I was looking at clutch adjustment myself...

This was offered as a solution:

There is also a Stick at the beginning of this forum.

If you're running basically stock or stage 1, your stock clutch should work no problem. I had to upgrade my clutch with motor work.

The Transmission doesn't seem that likely. I'd consider that a warranty issue if so.

Good luck.

The problem is not in the transmission. The transmission will not slip (well, I guess it could, but you would find gear teeth or dogs in the oil, and it would make one hell of a noise...)

If something is slipping, it is the clutch.

There is something wrong with your clutch, nothing wrong with your trans. The next step IMHO is to dismantle the clutch and clutch operating mechanism, to see if there is something obvious. If you really are at your wits end then visit a dealer or indy. Don't sit out the riding season just because you can't solve a problem - get help!

When you changed clutch did you upgrade the clutch spring to the SE spring. If not this may be causing the slip.

Normally if a clutch is going to slip it will do it in the higher gears not just in one gear in particular. You may have some bad dog teeth on the third counter shaft gear. Does it just kind of go into a false neutral then engage if you let off the throttle?
