Default Clutch Cable mileage

Is there a recommended mileage at which the clutch cable should be replaced? I have checked the service manual and searched this forum and others without finding it. The bike is 99 FLHT with 41,000 miles on it. Thanks in advance.

Replace if,

-it's stretched beyond adjustable limits

-frayed

-kinked or bent

-never lubricated

- lack of lubrication

- peace of mind.

Usually an inspection and evaluation of the cable determines replacements. Unless it's on a Honda, then it'll break at 5,000 miles.

I replaced the original clutch cable on my `89 Softail about two years ago, it was still working fine (about 120,000 miles).

I made no special effort to lube that cable, it probably got a shot of WD 40 every year or so...

The new Barnett cables don`t need lubrication.
