Default 2006 Dyna IPB issue

I am the proud owner of a 2006 fxdwgi with 23,000 miles on it.It is making a whirring sound that I suspect is the inner primary bearing. The previous owner had the ipb replaced at 16,000 miles.I believe the inner primary case and trans case from 2007 (4 dowels)provide a more permanent fix.If dealer won't cover cost I may have to do this myself.Any special tools required?Harley part # for all chrome pieces?Technical service bulletin #?Does this cause the engine to run hotter than usual?Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Inner primary bearing failures are normally the result of an over tightened primary chain. I have seen it on every year from your model forward. Throw away that stock auto tensioner and either use one of our manual tensioners or something else like a Hayden.

Had mine replaced around 50000 miles, I installed a Hayden tensioner on mine. Damn it failed in 7000 miles? That doesn't sound good.

Common issue on the 06 dyna and the dowel pin issue. Do a search and you'll find lots of good info. The hardest part will be pressing in and out if you don't have a press. Not hard to do, and a good time to update your other seals while doing it.

I was the second owner of my 2006. My IPB went out and I called MOCO, got a reference number then took the bike to the dealer. Had the cases and IPB replaced on their dime. While in there I had the tensioner upgraded. Do some research!
