flht swing arm interchange

Default flht swing arm interchange

hi folks, my 99 flht was hit by a buick, i have a broken swing arm and would like to use the stronger 2002 or 3 swing arm ( with the cast steel adjusters ) for the 1 inch axle, will the boss on the transmission interchange or is the pivoy a different diameter, in other words will the later swing arm fit the earlier transmission?
if pivot pin is larger what diameter is it? is the width of the the boss the same?

I've already answered this in your other post. You should use a stock size swingarm axle for your year of bike, with a set of aftermarket bushings in your 'new' swingarm. There are several brands available, some of them coming with a nice new axle. That way you get the benefit of the later s/a, with none of the hassle of messing with the tranny casing.

grbrown, thanks, so i assume the the 2 castings that bolt to the outside of the frame that hold the rubber mounts are interchangeable? i have a lathe so i think i'll spec out the bushing at the dealer and spin them up myself...mark

No they are not interchangeable, but fit either left or right. That will become obvious when you have them in your hands! The bushings you need are the same each side, mine are shown in this photo:
