Default Recurring Inner primary leak

2000 Softail and I'm on my 3rd set of inner primary seals. I can NOT keep this thing from leaking!
I know it's the primary b/c I have the Red Line pink oil in the transmission.

For those of you that have fought inner primary leaks, what am I missing? I've filled the bolts full of RTV and have re-sealed this thing to death. But a good 200 mile day leaves me with drops on the floor.

Have you replaced the inner primary race on the mainshaft?

Check the inner primary race..I went through the same thing with my dyna.replaced it and no more leaks.just make sure you wrap the main shafts with some tape to keep from cutting the new seal.

Thanks for the information fellows. I have not checked the race and quite frankly didnt think it could cause the leak.
Did you go with the OEM replacement?

As has been suggested, check the IPB race. No RTV between the inner primary and engine case. Use Permatex 85249 Hylomar sealant to seal the bolts/locks; use it sparingly and there is no need to use any sealant on the bolts. You could be nicking the seal lip with each install if you are not taping the main shaft splines with painters tape or something similar. It doesn't take much contact between the seal lip and splines to nick the seal lip.

The IPB race can walk in toward the main gear or walk out toward the primary; walking in is more common but that condition leads to a trans leak. Post a photo of the race the next time you pull the primary. If the seal is good, the race in good shape and the seal making contact with the race, there should not be a leak there.

The surface of the race is also the sealing surface for the inner primary oil seal.

Had same prob on '04 Dyna. It was a walking race. I replaced the two-piece race/primary bearing with an All ***** single raceless bearing that fits directly on the output shaft (which also eliminates the need for a race installer tool) and it's done great for 15K mi. You might consider the All ***** or the similar Baker High-Torque single replacement. The seal with those seals on the output shaft, not on the race like the original.

Here is a picture of my race, just like you guys' said, it appears to have moved in against the pulley.
So what is the best way to remove this thing? I dont think that I can grind a slot all the way from the front to the back of the race since it's sitting against the pulley bolt and even if I could, the pulley wont allow me to get a chisel close enough to cover the entire length of the grind.

I'm sure some of you have been here before so your experience is needed.
