The latest version of the Hayden keeps the chain too tight according to several users including myself. Both during install and after about 450 miles, the chain would only move up/down 1/8" with moderate effort. I never noticed any adverse shifting noises or shifting problems but was concerned with the tension, so I went with the Baker manual.
Maybe with more miles the shoe would wear more and the tension would ease, but I was not willing to wait.

First thing I did when I got home was get that HD POS self tensioner out and put a Hayden in. Only got 4000 miles on it but had 10000 on a Hayden in my previous bike.
It's a well made simple piece of kit that works just fine. When I have 10000 on this one ill open her up to check all is good, but no reason to think there will be any problems.

Had planned to install the M6 this morning, but found that my drive belt is falling apart. Almost every tooth was cracked and about to fall off. I didn't see any that were cracked when I checked the belt a couple of weeks ago. How many miles should a belt last on a 2011 Fatboy Lo,(this one has 48000 on it) and what else besides mileage will cause this?
Belt won't be in until Thursday, so testing the M6 will have to wait I guess.
