89 electroglyde shift lever loose
My hog has a loose shift lever on the shift shaft. It's time to replace the lever or the shaft but I don't have the right service information to remove either. Alls I have is the 1984 - 1990 FLT/FXR models Service Manual which does not mention the shift shaft. Is there another manual I can buy to repair my Hog? I love working on my Hog. Any ideas?

You can get the proper service manual for your bike from any Harley dealer.
If you must replace the shifter arm assembly, you will be removing the entire primary drive (clutch, compensator, primary chain, inner primary cover), and you will also be removing the gearset from the transmission.
The loose shifter arm is not uncommon...

Is your manual a genuine Harley Davidson service manual?

Sounds like you have the right manual, look in the transmission section, should be section 7. Once you get the lever off here is a better option so it won't happen again.
