Aluminum vehicle bodies ??
It will soon be time to buy another vehicle. It will be a 150 series truck from one of the big 3.
I'm inclined (not decided) to scratch Ford off the list as they have aluminum bodies. Not that I hate aluminum but living right on Canada's eastern shoreline with its salt road winters and salt spray summers, aluminum has me spooked.
Other pros/cons I've read about seem to sum up as (better mileage vs higher purchase + repair costs). Paint can apparently be an issue too. I'll need to call Allstate to see if this affects insurance rates.
Anyhow, a discussion on this would be helpful to me right now. Opinions ?

Some body backed into the son in laws new F150 and dented the area under the tail light and forward of the light. They are having to replace the entire left side of the box as the dent can't be removed. The aluminum is stretched when dented and you can't shrink it back like steel. The bed side is glued and riveted in place. Aluminum does take more prep when getting ready to paint.
