Default air vented helmets?

I'm looking for a light weight 1/2 or possibly 3/4 helmet. I don't mind paying the price for a good helmet but if there isn't much difference than the cheaper models why bother. Do the air vents help? I thought that would maybe make a big difference on coolness???? Any comments???

Not all are noticeable but most do help to keep your scalp vented, and less sweaty.
The best I've used are always vented above the brows and with exits behind your head.
With each being close-able.

I've got this HJC top of their line AC 1/2 helmet. Very comfortable, good venting, well made, reasonably priced. I think I got if for around $80 something. It's a little big, but not that big. I tried many on at different places and this was one of the most comfortable. Good quality too.

I use a full-face Shoei, and the ventilation is the best I have found. With all vents open, you can really feel the airflow through the helmet.

I bought the Scorpion EXO200 3/4. Best ventilation I have used. Also it is Snell rated. Also has a ratcheting visor which you can get in clear, tinted or dark smoke. It has an anti fogging agent for the shield. Here is a couple pics of mine. Notice how the inside of the helmet is constructed for maximum air flow. It also has the rear vent for cross through ventilation. I live in Florida and as long as I am moving my head does not sweat. All vents can be closed for cooler weather.

I have a THH helmet. I agree with wideglide, as long as you are moving there is a breeze around your head that prevents sweating. There is even a light flow of air frommy forehead down to my chin. Ironically, the benefits are most noticeable after the head buildup of a lonnnng stoplight. When you moveyou can feel acooling breezeinside thehelmet.

Once you get the DOT and Snell approvals, anything with a bigger price tag is just made of lighter and more comfortable materials. So if you're going for comfort, you're looking at a more expensive helmet. Itreally won't protect any better than a cheap one with the DOT/Snell approvals.

As far as half and three-quarter helmets, what's the point of vents if the helmet is "open" already?
