Nice job Jonesee!
The BBG is a relentless ride, my friend Phil and I did it together in September of 2013. We made it in 22 hours, riding FJR's set up for serious LD work.
I'm impressed that you did it on the bike that you did, with limited fuel range and hardly any creature comforts.
If you do write a longer ride report, please share it. It's neat to hear how the ride story gets told after some time goes by and the perspectives develop.
All the best,
Shane

Jonesee,
Congratulations on the ride.
I did my SS 1000 this past June, and I know what you mean, it falls into place.
I did mine with a Street Glide and the Cruise control is very nice.
I'm hoping to do the BB 1500 next summer. There is a lot of snow here in Ft Mac, and no riding since September 1.
Fort McMurray to Ely NV is just over 1500. The Hotel Nevada is quite a spot. I'd continue down to Vegas afterward.
Another one I'd like to try is Vancouver to Halifax in under 90 hr. Have to remain in Canada and get fuel in Thunder Bay, and Edmonston. I doubt it will fall into place next year.
I think Sturgis is 1000 mi.
REgardless - Great ride, and good report. Biggest thing I believe is the gas reciepts. The signatures are backup. I had a HD Dealer Manager sign a witness form, and he gave me a couple business cards. I sent the info in, and never heard whether they needed to verify. I did have to do one more small leg to get the ODO over the 1000 mi mark. It read short and I did the Google Maps run 5-6 times, and I had overshoot built in. My GPS told the tale though.
My certification was ~3.5 months I think. Submitted in July, returned in October. They're not getting paid to do the work, the nominal fee is for paper and postage etc. It was nice to have it confirmed though.
Have a great day.

I am out of ideas about the buffeting.
Maybe I am too thick headed to realize it is happening to me.
How far have you ridden with it in a single run?
Maybe once you settle in with a different wind direction it will go away.

It's actually a vibration as much as it is a "bigger" buffeting. It starts immediately as soon as I get up to 65-70. I'll just have to work on a comfortable posture that lets me sit low enough to get under it.
